P5 VIA Making Gifts for Elderly @ SWAMI
P5 VIA visit to the Old Folks’ Home has been part of the Applied Learning Programme P5 Interdisciplinary Project Work for the past years. Despite not being able to make a physical visit, our students thought of innovative ways to bring cheer and happiness to the elderly. During Form Teacher Guidance Period (FTGP) lessons, the students created beautiful coasters. The elderly were pleased to receive these gifts.

2020 Cleaner’s Appreciation Day
The school showed our appreciation towards our school cleaners yearly on Cleaner’s Appreciation Day. Our Primary 2 students gave out handmade cards containing handwritten thank-you notes and a box of tea-time treats to our school cleaners. The school also affirmed our security guards, lab technicians and administrators for their contribution to the school on this day. We hope that our students will consistently practise the habit of greeting and thank our unsung heroes.

Primary Five visit to Sree Narayana Mission Home.
A visit to the Sree Narayana Mission home is a
yearly activity organised for our Primary 5 students. The purpose of the visit
is to promote
the virtues of respecting the elderly in the society. Through the visit, students get to learn a lot of stories shared
by elderlies. They also get to experience interacting with the
elderlies. At the same time, the visit provides a therapeutic session for
the elderlies as they get to enjoy their time with the students through
interactive sessions such as playing games and singing songs. This form of
interaction provides the elderlies the opportunity to stay connected with the society and feel less lonely.
One person caring about another represents life’s
greatest value. – Jim Rohn
