  6. 1.You can reuse stuff that you do not want. For example, once you have finished using a jam bottle you can use it to store other stuff. 2. you can reduce. For example if usually take away your food, you can bring your own container instead. That way we can reduce the use of plastic containers.3. you can also recycle. If you finish a bottle of drink, you can wash it and then throw it into the recycling bin. If you are doing origami, you can use paper that you do not want anymore and use it to fold your origami. you can share this with others by putting posters around your neighbourhood.

  10. As humans with responsibility, we need to make sure to keep our planet clean. I mean, look around you! Almost everywhere I look I see trash. Cigarettes, aluminum cans, bottles, wrappers... Will this trash come to an end?! One important way we can save the planet is by recycling. By recycling, we can reuse our planet's resources and begin to transform it into what it once was.
But also, another big problem in this earth is pollution. Everyday, we send tons of carbon into the atmosphere, only causing more global warming. So, we can take a step into action and start carpooling, cutting the amount of carbon dioxide emitted into the air in half. Or start taking your bike to places! Or even walk to close by areas. Not only will this help keep our planet cooler, it will also benefit you by getting some exercise in everyday. If we really work hard, we can make a difference in this world.
Another easy thing to do to help save this planet is to just be conscientious about what you are doing. Are you turning out every last light as you leave the room? Are you making sure to take shorter showers? All of these things can make a difference. I mean, think about it. You may not think that you alone could not make a difference, and that this planet is doomed, but what if everybody thought that, and never did anything about it? Everybody has the potential to make a difference. If you just get a group of people to feel motivated, this could start something big for the earth.
If you haven't noticed already, in the arctics, the ice caps are melting. The reason? Well, mostly pollution. All of the carbon dioxide being emitted into the air is increasing the earth's overall temperature, therefore melting what should be frozen.
So as a conclusion to all of this, take the extra step to make sure that you go green, and help save the planet! After all, we only have this one island home, and once it's gone, it's gone.

Cleaning up the environment may seem like too big a problem,
but you just start at home and work your way up. If everyone did their small part,
the whole world would quickly become a cleaner place. You're never too young to help!

    Here are three simple ways:
    1)Recycle!
Recycling is an excellent place to start.
If we couldn't recycle, there would be so much trash on the ground that we couldn't see our own feet!
Recycling is great. Think about it, when you recycle paper, it improves our oxygen level.
When you recycle plastic, new things can be made from it, such as bottles or carpets.
When you recycle aluminum, new cars can be made from it! Recycling benefits you and everyone else.
    2)Conserve Energy!
The less resources (like water) and energy (like electricity in your lights) we use,
the less resources we need to take from nature, and the less energy we need to produce.
Also, remember to turn off your lights when to leave the room.
Both of these not only help the environment, but also save your family money.
You may not have to pay bills now, but when you get your own house someday, you will!
It's better to start good habits now while you're young. Turn down the heating in your home.
It's much more effective to heat you with a jacket then heating your entire house.
    3) Last but not least, Make a difference!
A very powerful action you can take to save the environment is to write letters to your congressmen/women.
Tell them why you want to protect the environment. You can get their address from your parent, teacher, or at the library.
If your teacher is interested, you could get everyone in the class to write a letter and send them all together.
This will really get their attention! This is how major changes can get made by individuals like you and me.
    And, it's very simple.

SO just by following this simple steps we could really make a diffrence! :D

Both of these not only help the environment, but also save your family money. You may not have to pay bills now, but when you get your own house someday, you will! Buy toiletries from companies that don't test their products on animals. Check the labels for "no animal testing." To help keep the water clean, don't buy products that have the words "Toxic", "Danger", or "Warning." on their labels. If they do, they are probably harmful to you, and the environment. There are tons of earth-friendly products and home-made recipes you can use to help save your environment and clean up at the same time! Contact the resource at the end for more ideas.A very powerful action you can take to save the environment is to write letters to your congressman/woman. I think it is important to keep our planet clean as no one wants to live in a dirty environment. If we see litter on the ground,we should pick it up even though it is not ours.We can also reuse plastic bags we use for groceries and use it for throwing trash in the garbage can and we can also use lesser energy by turning off the aircon/fan when you do not need it or switch off the light when not in use.

  14. As people of the environment, we all must play a part to keep it clean. Recycling is a keyword in that prospect. Consider this; You go to Sembawang Park to enjoy yourself and spend time with your family members. There, you see nothing but trash! If this does not make you want to keep the environment clean, I don't know what it is with you... Think about how you can keep our home clean for the good of you and others around you!

Yes, I can pick up litter and clean my table. We can put bins and cameras around the school. We should also use less plastic as it is not bio-degradable. Those plastics can kill animals by suffocating it. At this time a lot of animals are about to be extinct.

  16. If we see any litter on the floor or at other places, like the canteen/classroom, we should pick it up and throw it into the bin. When there is newspaper under your table or your friends table,we should not throw it into the bin but instead, we can throw it in the recycling bin at the corner of the canteen. So we should keep our place and our country clean. Also when we have empty bottles we can reuse it or recycle it instead of throwing them away in the bin. So we should keep our country clean.

Clean AirPainting your house? Use a latex paint. Oil-based paints release hydrocarbon fumes.
Get a tune-up. Properly maintained vehicles get better gas mileage and emit fewer pollutants.
Don’t top off your gas tank. Overfilling causes spills that release hydrocarbons and other toxic chemicals into the air.Conserve energy. You’ll lower your utility bills and help avoid peak demands on utility plants.Don’t burn your yard waste. It’s illegal in many areas of Ohio because burning yard waste releases mold spores, soot, and other contaminants that can aggravate allergies and cause respiratory problems. Plant a tree. Trees absorb carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas.Park the car. Walk, bike or use mass-transit whenever you can. Vehicle traffic is a major contributor to smog.
Clean WaterUse less fertilizer on your lawn. When it rains, excess fertilizer runs off into storm sewers and pollutes streams.Never pour anything – especially waste oil or leftover lawn chemicals – into a storm drain. It will end up in the nearest stream.Don’t trash our streams. Volunteer groups sponsoring annual cleanups find everything from old tires to old appliances in our waterways. Water your lawn in the early morning, when the water will soak in and not evaporate in the heat of the day.Don’t water more than once a week, and then only if it hasn't rained. Established lawns need only one inch of water a week.
Don’t water the sidewalk - it won’t grow. Set your sprinkler to keep the water on the lawn.
Mulch around your landscaping. A three-inch layer of mulch holds moisture and prevents evaporation, reducing the need to water.Use a bucket when you wash the car, instead of the hose. Letting the water run while you work costs money and wastes water. Only use the hose to rinse.
Sweep your driveway and sidewalk instead of cleaning them up by spraying with the hose.
Don’t do the dishes until you have a full load. Your dishwasher uses 12 gallons of water whether it’s full or half-empty.Wash a full load of laundry. Your washing machine uses 40 gallons of water. Run it full, or adjust the water level to the size of your load.
Don’t let the water run while you shave or brush your teeth. Turn it on only when you need it. Every minute the faucet runs, five gallons of water go down the drain.
Take a shorter shower. And switch to a low-flow shower head.
Repair leaky faucets and toilets. You can tell if the toilet leaks by putting food coloring in the tank. If color shows up in the bowl without flushing, there’s a leak.
Install faucet aerators. You can cut your water usage by up to six percent.
Clean LandRecycle. If your community does not offer a recycling program, ask local officials to start one.Don’t put hazardous materials in the trash. Save paints, pesticides, lawn chemicals, car batteries, waste oil and similarmaterials for your local household hazardous waste collectiondayTurn in your mercury thermometer and replace it with a digital one. Mercury is a persistent pollutant that moves up the food chain and can cause serious health problems. Never vacuum spilled mercury. If you have mercury in your home, call Ohio EPA (614-644-3469) to find out how to get rid of it safely.Don’t buy more than you need. When it comes to lawn chemicals, pesticides, paints and other hazardous materials, buy a smaller package so you won’t have leftovers to dispose of.Paper or plastic? Better yet, take a canvas bag to the grocery and re-use it each time you shop.Use both sides of the paper. Set your copier to make double-sided copies and you’ll substantially reduce your paper use.Use rechargeable batteries. Many batteries contain metals that are better kept out of landfills.Give it away, don’t throw it away. Many charitable organizations accept donations of wearable clothing and gently used household items.

  21. To keep our environment clean, we can:
~ Reuse unwanted glass or plastic bottles to make a small container to grow flowers in. The advantage of using plastic bottles as a flower pot is that the bottle will not break as easily as the clay pots. Plus, you need not buy any more pots if you have these unwanted bottles.
~ Reuse scrap paper by making a bookmark using the technique of collage. Not only do you get to help by reusing, but also get to keep a unique bookmark.
~Reduce the use of plastic bags by bringing along our own bags when we go grocery shopping. If you have none of those bags, you can just buy one on your next trip with your parents to the supermarket.
~ Reduce the wastage of paper by not throwing away pieces of paper that have very little writing on them. Instead, cut off the part that has writing on it and keep the blank part for future drafts or sketches.
~ Bring recyclable materials such as plastic and paper to school to put in the recycling bins.
By doing any of these things, we can help to keep our environment clean and make the world a better place to live in.

One simple innovative idea that everybody can do is to make four different types of boxes to put respective items on it.The first box can be the place for paper, the second box can contain cans, the third box can contain plastic and the last box can be the trash can.By the end of the week we will see how muck is collected in the boxes and then throw them in their respective bins. This can be done by everyone. You can remember this by the word R.A.C.K.R is for recycle, reduce and reuse.A is for a responsibility .C is for conserving.K is for keeping clean.

  25. We can keep the environment clean by doing the few steps below.

    1) Use more of the public transport or walk and cycle instead of driving your own car. This will reduce the amount of unwanted gases being emitted into the environment and causing global warming. Global warming is causing the polar ice caps to melt and this will cause the sea level to rise by 3 to 4 meters. If the sea level continue to rise, a lot of countries will soon be underwater.
    2) Use the 3Rs: Reuse, Reduce and Recycle. Reuse means to use something again. For example, you could water the plants with the water that you used to wash the rice. This action can also help you to save a lot of money in you monthly water bill.Reduce means to cut down on the amount of using something. You could cut down on using materials that cannot decompose so quickly such as styrofoam, plastic and etc. Recycle means to send something for recycling and turning it into a new one. You can recycle newspaper, aluminium cans, plastic bottles and etc. This can help to cut down on the amount of animals and plants that were being kill to get raw material.
    3) Convert your vehicles to run on vegetable oil fuel. This idea was inspired by a scientist named Rudolf Diesel. Vegetable oil burns in a cleaner way, which in turn helps to reduce the amount of unwanted gases being emitted into the environment. It is also easily available and cheaper as it can be found anywhere.
    4) Stop littering. The rubbish that we littered everywhere can attract pests like rats, cockroaches and etc. This pests will transmit bacteria and cause a lot of illnesses and problems for us.
    5) Stop using aerosol sprays or paints. They contain something called chlorofluorocarbons(a.k.a CFC). This substance helps in the depleting of the ozone layer. The ozone layer is something that we cannot do without. It filters off the ultraviolet rays from the sun and prevents the possibility of skin cancer. The ozone layer at the side of Australia has already have a hole. So, the country has the highest rate of skin cancer every year.

Maybe the school should have a 'Cleaning Day' , for pupils to have two straight HOURS just to clean their classroom spick and span. This would help them to raise awareness on cleaning everyday. Maybe they should take a picture BEFORE the clean-up and AFTER the clean-up. Then compare.

  29. Continuing from above......
    6) Stop deforestation. Deforestation is an act whereby trees are cut down in large amounts to make something. Trees help to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the air. In the day, when there is sunlight, trees and other plants carry out photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is a process when plants take in carbon dioxide and combined with sunlight and produces oxygen and glucose. When compared to flowers, trees take in a larger amount of carbon dioxide and give off a larger amount of oxygen. To reduce the amount of trees being cut down, we can use less paper and recycle paper. When paper is recycled, it is crushed into wood pulp and mixed with other materials to make paper. When trees are cut down, its roots are unable to hold the top soil properly and when it rains the top soil will be washed away, causing soil erosion. This soil erosion will also pollute the water bodies nearby and will kill all aquatic living things living in it.

Another way is to use ECO friendly car or we could use eco friendly light bulbs. By using this it uses lesser electricity. If cannot afford we could just use a fan instead of a air corn when in use. we also could reuse paper like if we only use one side we could use the other side which has nothing written on it. SO START RECYCLING TODAY! ITS YOUR CHOICE!:) Amos 6e1

If this is what you want, don't live in Singapore. Move out to other country. You see that some other countries are very dirty as the government is very poor. We must be grateful that Singapore is a very nice place. In school, we can do our part by picking up litters in school if we see any. The school is very good to allow us to throw the waste into one bin and the plate into another. It allows the cleaners and store owners to make it easier to wash the plates. We must all do our part. To continue saving Singapore, to continue saving the Earth. Even though my PSLE starts already, I will keep doing my part as a Singaporean.

  44. Towards keeping the environment clean, I feel that it is everyone's responsibility. First of all, before we ask other people to do the 3 Rs (reduce, reuse and recycle) or don't anyhow litter, we should do it ourself first---be a role modal to them. If they see us only telling them to do but we ourself didn't, they will continue to do the wrong things and ignore our words. So first of all, we should first demonstrate to show them what the correct thing is.

Secondly, we should frequently do the 3 Rs. Because let that we can turn things that are old and unusable to new and usable.
Since it can be reuse, why not?! You can even save money!

Thirdly, wherever we see a litter, we should always pick it up, not only when our school is having hand campaign activities. We should pick up any littles we see on anywhere like the chair or table or even floor at all times, NOT ONLY WHEN OUR PARENTS, TEACHERS ARE AROUND. If we see anyone little, we should politely ask them to pick it up. If they refuse, we should help them pick it up.

I feel that the school should let all the cleaners 1 or 2 days leave. This will let the pupils know how the school will be without cleaners. They may even try not to little as much as they can.

In conclusion, I think that we should be more considerate every cleaners.

  51. The importance of cleanliness and tidiness of a classroom

It is important to keep and maintain clean environment in our classroom at any time. If we don’t then we will need to face number of possible problems.

First of all, the purposes of keeping clean and tidy include health, beauty absence of disgusting smells and to avoid the spread of dirt from one to another. In the classroom where nearly forty students learning and sitting together in such small area, the environment will need to be clean enough. It is because the air inside is breathing continuously by all of us and the bacteria and virus in the rubbish like tissues used by classmates, packing of the food will stay in the air if we just put rubbish everywhere inside the classroom. Smell of the food would further attract pests which have potential danger giving us health problems as pests are usually dirty. Therefore it is necessary for us to put the rubbish or any other used materials inside the dust bin.

In addition, we will use the air-conditioner more frequently in the coming months because of the raising temperature. Thus, windows will be closed during most of the time. The circulation of air may not be as good as before. If we still keep on throwing rubbish on the floor, we will have a higher chance to get sick because of breathing in the air which contains bacteria.

Besides the negative impact on our health, having a fifty classroom will give others a bad impression on us. Others will just think it is impossible and unreasonable for a secondary four student accept to have such dirty and uncomfortable learning environment. And in my opinion, it is unacceptable for us to have lessons in such environment.

Last but certainly not the least; it is also our own responsibility to keep the place around us neat and clean. As we are already a form four student, therefore we should able to self-discipline ourselves at any time not to throw or keep rubbish on the floor without being reminded.

Those of us who are better with our hands could use things that are useless to create something useful, such as using toilet paper rolls to make stationery stands. We could also pick up one litter a day to keep areas outside the school clean. Imagine if people see that we pick up a litter and they also do the same and the cycle goes on and on until everyone picks up litter. Singapore would be clean and green, not cleaned and green.

Although I know sometimes people might just tend to forget/don't want to do these simple actions, but we can also put up creative signs/posters to encourage people to give the environment more consideration. Maybe these might seem boring, it can still make a difference if our signs/posters fun and attractive enough to get others attention. One more way is, we can organize a school/neighbourhood clean up, this can be done by any groups of people who are willing to help pick up the litters.

  64. As you can see, Singapore is supposed to be a clean and green little island, but look at around us right now! Grass fields filled with litter, oceans full of oil spills, empty drink cans, plastic bags!? How could this be?? Imagine how Singapore would look like if we continue littering our rubbish everywhere and whenever you like!
Don't you feel warmer now these days?? That's the effect of pollution-Global Warming. Now, even the North pole is starting to melt, causing many countries to get flooded. And, the polar bears don't have a place to stay, wandering of to the wild, attacking people. So, for the sake of our own lives, people have been trying to save the world as much, and as quick as possible. Even picking up and throwing a little candy wrapper away can make a big difference!
Also, recycling items can save us a lot of money, and we can do our part to save the earth. Even if we don't have the time, we can always dump our recyclable items into a big blue bin specially for items like these. A good example would be the weekly Green Tuesday we hold in the school at the canteen. Remember the 3R's! Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

Maybe we can pick litter from the floor and the recycle bins to make them into things during our art lessons or even use them if the liter still can be used. That would be reusing. 69. Keeping the environment save is a good habit.By keeping the environment clean,it helps to reduce the amount of pesticides in the environment.I would suggest to the people around the world to use the 3Rs -Reuse,Recycle,Reduce.By doing that it will reduce the amount of waste produced by human beings.Though Singapore is just a small dot on the globe, but it stills produce more waste than we would ever think .The waste that Singapore produce will be transported to an island called Pulau Semakua. Some things we bury underground for decompositon as it also helps to fertilise the plants. We can use newspaper and recycle it .People often throw newspaper in the dustbin ,and it will be not good for the environment.Global warming is also affecting the earth. It is the cause of greenhouse effect. The greenhouse releases a lot of carbon dioxide which makes the earth hot.Talking about carbon dioxide, when trees are cut,it will release carbon dioxide too.If it also releases carbon dioxide, the earth will be even hotter. If we do not do these kind of things it will make Mother Earth a better place to survive in .

I think it is important for us to keep our environment clean as we belong and stay in earth and should not dirty it. Keeping the environment clean is not only our responsibility, it is everyone's responsibility! We should start with ourselves by doing and practicing the 3Rs, which is Reuse, Reduce and Recycle. We should be a role modal to others, and the others will think and decide to follow us.

Firstly, we should do our duty, by picking up the litter in our classrooms, sweep the floor, arrange tables and chairs neatly in order to let the pupils on duty easier(do not make the pupils on duty life so difficult) , we should not act to be a good student by acting, example: when a teacher or principal walked passed, when you see litter, you would rush there and pick it up , then the teacher or principal would nod their heads and smile happily praising you a good little girl or boy. That would be so fake! We should treat it as helping the cleaners in school and public to keep the environment clean. Make it something good! Make it a habit too!

I think we could hold up an activity ( outside library , open at recess and after schools for a while---could ask me to help!!! ) that we could create games, activities, small little stickers, bookmarks, or little small presents to give the lucky winner! We could give each student a little topic/ question about cleaning and environment, play darting games of what and how to keep the environment clean and give out attracting prizes! Also, use your hands Champaign, let every child a helpful role modal to everyone !

Picking up litter is not that hard, as simple and easy as ABC !!! Why not try it?!
we cannot always let the cleaners do the work! The canteen aunties and uncles must work so hard for their family and help us clean our litter! Some of them NEVER takes any break/ leave or MC leaves!WE should also do a part to help the environment by not littering!

If all of us do such simple action, our world will be clean. Other than just picking litter, we also can take a little bit of our weekend time to clean all the unwanted things and we can also do recycle. You can sort out all those things that can be recyled and put it in the recycling bin. Schools can have more hands-on activities to tell them to pick up litters and let them what is the reason behind doing all this. I wish we can do this together and keep our world clean and green!!!

If the whole of Singapore starts like this, the whole world will follow our example and do the same thing. Our school is already doing this by having Green Tuesday and encouraging us pupils to have duty. At home, we can help our parents sweep the floor to make sure that our homes are clean. 75. I think it is important to keep Singapore clean and green.Remember the 3Rs (Reduce,Reuse,Recycle). We can do it by picking up litter in our environment. Even when nobody is looking,we must still pick up the rubbish we see on the floor. Our school have a activity called 'Green Tuesday', every Tuesday we can bring recyclable items to school for recycling.Recycle. 1)Recycling is an excellent place to start. If we couldn't recycle, there would be so much trash on the ground that we couldn't see our own feet! Recycling is great. Think about it, when you recycle paper, it improves our oxygen level. When you recycle plastic, new things can be made from it, such as bottles or carpets.2)Reduce the amount of things that you throw away and consume. These means reducing your energy bills, your grocery bills, water usage, and gas consumption. This can be one of the most rewarding forms of leading a green lifestyle, as you realize the financial benefits as well as help the environment at the same time!3) Reuse is to use an item again after it has been used. This includes conventional reuse where the item is used again for the same function, and new-life reuse where it is used for a different function. In contrast, recycling is the breaking down of the used item into raw materials which are used to make new items. By taking useful products and exchanging them, without reprocessing, reuse help save time, money, energy, and resources. In broader economic terms, reuse offers quality products to people and organizations with limited means.Let's do our part to save the world!

  78. I think it is important to keep Singapore clean and green. We can start by picking up rubbish on the ground whenever we see them.On every Tuesday, is a day when pupils will bring recycle materials to school to recycle.Mrs Pek will encourage all pupils to bring the materials to recycle. At home,we can help to save our mother earth by saving electricity to not create less carbon dioxide to our environment by not turning on air-con but fan, turn off the tap when not in use, turn off lights when not in use and lastly,we should use less plastic, instead ,we can use recycle bag and use less papers so as to cut down less trees. We should also not forget our 3R's and they are: Reduce,Reuse and Recycle.

Reduce is using less unneeded materials such as paper, plastic and metal.

Reuse is using materials that can still be used again.

Recycle is throwing litters in the recycle bins to let the thing be reuse again.

  87. You want to know why we should clean up the earth and do better. How about because we don't want to make the world a trash can. You know everything you throw away actually goes somewhere. In the new movie wall.e the planet earth is full of trash and they send a robot there to clean it up. That could be use if we keep this up. Only we might not have any other place to go.
Here are some statistic on how long it takes some things to Biodegrade:
    Cotton rags ~ 1-5 months
    Paper ~ 2-5 months
Natural fiber rope ~ 3-14 months
    Orange peel ~6 months
Wool socks ~1 to 5 years
Leather shoes ~25 to 40 years
    Tin cans ~ 50 to 100 years
Aluminum cans ~80 to 100 years
    Glass bottles ~1 million years
Plastic on the other hand never biodegrades because it's man made and enzymes and the micro organisms responsible for breaking down organic materials don’t recognize them. As time passes plastic will eventually break down into smaller and smaller pieces. This is a mechanical process involving mechanical actions such as ripping splitting and falling apart. Plastic merely breaks up. No matter how small the pieces they are still and always will be plastic. they are not absorbed into or changed by natural processes. Dr Richard Thompson of the University of Plymouth says:" He estimates that there are 100,000 particles of plastic per sq km of sea bed and 300,000 items of plastic per sq km of sea surface. Barnacle, lugworm and amphipods hoover up the tiny plastic particles as they feed. Who eats the amphipods - the little fishes and who eats the little fishes? That’s you that is with your fish, chips and microscopic plastic particles. Petrochemical based plastic is made from a non renewable resource - oil. Waste on line states “ that 4% of the world’s annual oil production is used as a feedstock for plastics production and an additional 3-4% during manufacture. every year thousands of animals die from eating plastic -including dolphins, turtles and seals.
Also other things are just bad for our environment and can eat away at our ozone layer. Witch in turn makes it hotter and causes more skin cancer because the the ozones not their to protect our skin. smog comes from our cars and pollutes are air and gives some people asthma and other problems including acid rain. Why should you clean up the earth why wouldn't you? unless you really think that your doing your self and the world some kind of favor by not recycling and doing better.

  88. Heres three easy steps to save Planet Earth:
    THE 3R'S
    R1:Reduce
    R2:Reuse
    R3:Recycle
You can recycle. Recycle cans, paper and plastic. In order to protect Planet Earth ,we should recycle. we can recycle paper, cans and plastic.
We should not throw the rubbish on the floor instead we should throw it in the bin.
We can recycle by bringing our own shopping bags, you can also use unwanted cardboard as bookmark, decorations and many more by just painting it and decorating it. We can use unwanted glass bottle as piggy bank, all you have to do is to paint.
IfSo as a conclusion to all of this, take the extra step to make sure that you go green, and help save the planet! After all, we only have this one island home, and once it's gone, it's gone.Nothing Can Change The World If We Work Together And Help Planet Earth!Recycling is an excellent place to start. The less resources (like water) and energy (like electricity in your lights) we use, the less resources we need to take from nature, and the less energy we need to produce. Fun Fact: If you have a leaky faucet that leaks one drop per second, that equals 650 wasted gallons of water per year! It adds up! Also, remember to turn off your lights when to leave the room. Both of these not only help the environment, but also save your family money. You may not have to pay bills now, but when you get your own house someday, you will! It's better to start good habits now while you're young. Turn down the heating in your home.

  90. Environmentally responsible behavior is an essential part of our philosophy and we continually recognize that this contributes strongly to our long-term company success”, stated in the introduction of our environmental vision.
We are all aware of the current pressing environmental problems: the greenhouse effect, Oil spills in the Gulf of Mexico, more species becoming endangered or depletion of the rain forest. If we do not act faster in protecting our environment and start to promote the protection of our climate, we could be threatened with even worse consequences in the future. Not only do our customers have high expectations regarding environmental awareness, so do we.

This is why we are taking responsibility for our actions and want to be a good role model to lead to way, meaning to directly intervene wherever it is possible – whether with our products or with our actions.

    Why stop global warming?
    1) To ensure continuity of Earth
    2) To make the world more comfortable
    3) WORLD PEACE! (Just kidding)

    Why stop (river) pollution/haze?
    1) To ensure clean rivers, lakes, etc.
    2) To make the world more "presentable"
    3) Do you really want to drink from a dirty lake?

All of this shows saving our environment. So now you know (or knew) why you should do the 3Rs.

  99. We can have a recess song related to saving the Earth, replace most of the bins with recycling ones, have a 'reusable bag giveaway', a BEACH CLEAN-UP DAY (wow this has gotta be fun!), and we can go up to a person who littered and tell them to pick up the litter and throw it in a dustbin/recycling bin and posters that tell fishermen by the sea not to throw their used equipment/bait into the sea as it harms the sealife. I bet that all of us have seen all those videos of dolphins/sharks/whales/fish stuck in nets dumped by heartless people, and you know it hurts to see them that way. Have you also seen birds by the shore, unable to walk, because their legs are entangled within fishing line? Because I have, and you CAN'T catch them and save them, they'll fly away. Sooner or later, these poor animals will either:
    1) Starve
    2)Get eaten ALIVE
    3)Drown
And face this: We would never want to die this way, so let's make a change, they deserve our help.
If you don't believe me, go search it on the Internet. Or Youtube. So many videos are there to prove what you just read. Just watching National Geographic Wild will give you more info, and if you care enough, you'll would help them. I mean, really, look, how many times have there been news about huge oil spills and the way the food chain there is affected? We all must have seen at least one, and that 1 must have featured the sea life there dying while people try to rescue them, but so many more die, waterlogged or poisoned, and if there is trash in the spill, things get worse.

  109. We can keep the environment safe by doing some of the steps below .

    1} Use the 3Rs : Reuse , Reduce and Recycle .

Reuse means instead of being disposed of , materials that are recovered from an incident and decontaminated may be able to be reused . Reusing these materials protects the environment by saving resources , including energy , virgin materials , and landfill space as well as reduces the economic impact of the affected site . This option should be considered before more permanent disposal options in order to minimize the amount of waste needing disposal .

Recycle means involves making materials that would otherwise be disposed of as waste into valuable resources for new products . Recycling these materials protects the environment by saving resources , including energy , virgin materials , and landfill space . This option should be considered before more permanent disposal options in order to minimize the amount of waste needing disposal .

Reuse means to bring down to a smaller extent .

  116. Protecting the environment is our responsibility. Nah! Its none of my business, besides, its too troublesome. If that is what you think, I've coughed up some simple and practical ways to do your part.
Even a tiny action makes a difference. Set the temperature of the air-conditioning higher (not lower) by at least a degree. Even better, use the fan. You would see significant savings if you use the fan.
Secondly, after you have just finished a refreshing soft drink, don't dump the aluminum can in the trash. Recycle it! You will be glad to know you have just saved enough energy to run the television for approximately three hours.
Lastly, treasure your stuff so that you won't have to replace them so frequently. By doing this, you are killing two birds with a stone. Not only will you save the energy that could be used for the manufacture of the products (as well as transportation of the goods), you are also saving money.
Protecting the environment is OUR job. If its isn't up to us, then who's responsibility is it? Hence, don't make up excuses. Would it hurt you if you spend a little more effort to recycle?

  118. Every time I see someone buy a packet drink, they would always throw the plastic that contains the straw on the floor, instead of the nearby dustbin. Many children nowadays are getting lazier, and they do not want to do the simplest of things. Like this, they would make the cleaners' job even more tedious, and many of them are as old as our grandparents! Would you like it if YOUR grandparents were the ones picking up other people's litter?

As there is a popular belief that cleaners would go out of jobs if the place is already spick and span, that belief is not true. If we dispose our rubbish properly, the cleaners would have lesser jobs to do and they can focus on other things, such as, cleaning tables.

Also, many children in our school always receive a newspaper on Tuesday. Some of them throw theirs away in the dustbin. If you do not want it, do not throw it away. Instead, why don't you recycle it? Like this, the newspaper may become something better in the future, instead of being burnt.

Global warming is an issue that humans created, and it is our job to prevent it. Why don't all of us put our effort in helping Earth?

Instead, we should use our recyclable bags in order to reduce the wastage of plastic bags. We can also consume less fuel by informing our parents not to drive but to walk or cycle to the location if possible. Secondly, we should recycle tin cans and plastic bottles instead of throwing them into the rubbish bin. Also, follow the golden rule: think before you print and try to use both sides of the paper. Thirdly, we can use used objects like toilet rolls to make reusable items like a pencil holder. Indeed, there are a lot of things we can do to save our environment from a simple change to something big. 135. I think that protecting the environment is essential for our planet. Nowadays, factories are releasing toxic gas and chemical waste into the river which will harm the marine life. Mankind is cutting down trees for land for the building of houses and buildings. By cutting down trees , lesser carbon dioxdie will be taken in by the trees and will produce lesser oxygen in the process of oxygen. The roots of trees are responsible of holding the soil firmly to the ground. If trees are removed , there will be soil erosion. There will be more carbon dioxide in the air and will damage the ozone layer of Earth. The ozone layer refers to a region of Earth's stratosphere that absorbs most of the Sun's UV radiation. If the ozone layer of Earth is damaged, there will be more heat in the air. The ice in Arctic and Antarctica will melt due to the increase in temperature. The sea level of Earth will increase and islands will be submerged. So in order to prevent this from happening , we should reuse reduce and recycle. We should not only think of our convenience and litter because if everyone in Earth has such thoughts, planet Earth will be polluted in no time.We should not use plastic bags offered in the supermarkets.

  137. I agree that protecting the enviroment is very important.Global warming is a serious cause for concern. This will result in drought which will lead to famines. To prevent this,we should use less plastic bags, take public transport and use recycled paper. Dominic Lau 6A

  138. I think that it is very important to protect the environment. We can do our part like using recyclable bags instead of plastic bags when shopping ,driving economically friendly cars, and disposing of rubbish like batteries in the proper way.

  139. In my opinion, i think it is indeed very important for us to protect our environment. Earth doesn't need us, it's humans that need the Earth. So for the sake of humanity and our future generations, we should put an end to our ignorance of Earth's health. At present, Earth is the only known habitable planet in the obsevable Universe. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Thus, despite what Douglas Adams said in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, “Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun. Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-two million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea,” till the day habitable planets are accesible for colonization, we really should not take Earth for granted. Ways we can keep our environment clean include going vegetarian, buying second hand stuff and choosing matches over lighters.

  140. Yes, I think it is important for all of us to keep our environment clean. I have been lowering the energy consumption and heat generation level by lowering the temperature of my water heaters, washing dishes manually instead of using a dishwasher, reducing the use of air conditioners and buying energy efficient lights to lower the energy consumption and heat generation level so as to cut down on carbon footprint.

  141. set a good example and don't litter. Besides the fact that you won't be neighborhood. However, this does not mean participating in wild protests or engaging in violent actions; these will only hurt your cause. Get permission from local stores, churches, restaurants, etc. to put up signs encouraging people to give the environment more consideration. While this may seem cliche, it can make a difference if your signs are good and get people's attention

  142. The methane from the belching, farting cattle, the gases released from the manures that they produce, the oil burned taking their carcasses to markets often thousands of miles away, the electricity needed to keep the meat cool, the gas used to cook it, the energy needed to plough and harvest the fields that grow the crops that the animals eat, even pumping the water that the cattle need put an enormous amount of stress on our ecological systems. A large amount of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane is released into the environment.Nearly 30% of the available ice-free surface area of the planet is now used by livestock, or for growing food for those animals. Many go hungry every day, but livestock now consumes the majority of the world's crops. Without these livestock bred for human comsumption, more land can be used to grow trees and feed the famished families.

As such, I encourage all to become vegetarians so that our planet can be saved.

  143. Yes,I think it is important to keep our environment clean. Many people now have the mentality that since other people do not keep the environment, I should also not do that. But they do not realise that keeping our environment clean starts with you, hence you should have awareness of your responsibility as a part of the earth.
Below is a few example : 1.Throw your litters into the rubbish bin and help pick up rubbish.2.Reduce,reuse,recycle 3.Be careful what you choose to bring home as a holiday souvenir. Many species from coral and conch shells to elephants and alligators are endangered because they are killed for curios or souvenirs.4.Use the back of a draft or unwanted printout instead of notebooks. Even with a double-sided printer there is likely to be plenty of spare paper to use! This is to reduce deforestation. From Hao Xing 6A

  144. Yes, I think it is important for all of us to keep our environment clean as a clean environment not only promotes the growth of the natural ecosystem but also good health. Areas of filth can be easily rife with disease and people who are living in slums often become ill due to dirty conditions. In order to keep the environment clean, I suggest that we should:
    (1) Reduce the usage of electrical appliances by switching off all the lights and appliances when not in use. We could also buy appliances that are not only environment friendly but energy efficient too.
    (2) Reuse products instead of throwing them away after use as it is conserving natural resources and reducing pollution of land and water.
    (3) Recycle materials like glass, plastics, aluminum and paper instead of disposing them in the rubbish bin. By doing so, it will prevent any air pollution accumulated on burning these products.
    (4) Bring our own recyclable grocery bag while shopping instead of using the supermarket’s plastic bag.
    (5) Do not conveniently dispose unwanted rubbish on the ground or in water bodies.
    (6) Use public transport instead of your own car as it reduces the amount of carbon dioxide produced.

  145. It is definitely important for us to keep the environment clean as a dirty environment would impend growth as the early stages of our lives would be spent building immunity against diseases. This is a worldwide problem many governments have been trying to solve. We can do our part too. We should cut down the use of paper and recycle it. This will lead to less trees chopped down and also counter climate change. We should also not litter and help clean up the place. Food waste can also be made into compost which is helpful in the growth of plants. By sit Jie Ren 6a

  146. Think that it is extremely important to keep our environment clean.
These are the few ways which we can do so:
    1) Properly dispose of trash. If trash is improperly disposed, it will eventually come back to affect us in a negative fashion.
    2) Sort trash into their respective groups so that they can be recycled and turned back into useful objects.
    3) Use a reuse able shopping bag when going grocery shopping so as not to produce excessive waste.
    4) buy trash free products. Avoid products that are excessively packaged. Choose to buy durable products that last and/or are made from recycled products.
